Cleaning a Motor Starter Switch

  • Remove the end bell where the wires come out. There will be four long bolts and nuts holding the motor together (below).

  • With just the starter end removed, there should be a white plastic terminal board. You can either loosen this board or if you can get to the starter points, (they are on a long copper piece) they open up after the motor gets to a certain speed.

  • Take an emery file and sand the contacts to polish up the copper contacts (below).

  •  Reassemble the end bell and install the bolts/nuts.


    • FINISHED!
