Cleaning a Motor Starter Switch
- Remove the end bell where the wires come out. There will be four long bolts and nuts holding the motor together (below).
- With just the starter end removed, there should be a white plastic terminal board. You can either loosen this board or if you can get to the starter points, (they are on a long copper piece) they open up after the motor gets to a certain speed.
- Take an emery file and sand the contacts to polish up the copper contacts (below).
